|An Annual/Random inspection was made to the facility by Licensing Program Analyst (LPAs), Leticia Rosales-Meza. A review of staff records on 1/23/19 indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse index clearances or exemptions. There are currently four adults living in the home.|
During today’s inspection the home and grounds were toured. The licensee was supervising four children, and operating within the licensed capacity and ratio requirements. No children were observed left in any parked vehicle. The facility’s operating hours are 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday. The floor plan submitted by the licensee was reviewed and verified. The children have access to the living room, kitchen, dining room, both downstairs bathroom, and bedroom #3 for napping. The off-limits areas of the home is the second story of the home and downstairs bedrooms #1 and #2. These areas have been made inaccessible by door knob covers and secured gate located at the bottom of the stairs. Flex locks are used on the lower cabinet doors in the kitchen and bathrooms to prevent access to toxins. The home was observed to be clean and orderly, and was at a comfortable indoor temperature. There were safe toys and equipment available for children. The licensee stated there is a working telephone in the home. The licensee’s pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications were reviewed, and expire on 3/2019. Items which could pose a danger to children (such as detergents, cleaning compounds, medications, etc.) were observed to be stored out of the reach of children. Licensee stated poisons are stored in the detached garage outside using a key lock. The home is heated by a central unit and cooled by ceiling fans. The LPA observed a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher, rated at least 2A10BC, in the home. The roster of children in care was reviewed and was current. The licensee has conducted an emergency drill within the past six months, last drill was documented on September 21, 2018.
