Licensing Program Analyst, Joelle Redding, made an unannounced visit for the purpose of a random annual inspection. . During this visit there were 19 infants/toddlers with six staff as follows: Room 1 (younger infants) 9 children with a teacher and two aides; Room 2: (older infants): 10 children with a teacher and two aides. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday from 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. LPA toured the facility. The furniture and toys, both inside and out, are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. Both rooms have adequate heating, lighting and ventilation, are clean and orderly, and are free of hazards. Infant changing tables have padded washable vinyl at least one inch thick with sides raised at least 3 inches, per regulation and are within arm’s reach of a sink. All storage containers and trashes have tight fitting covers are in good repair. Morning and afternoon snack are provided for the older infants. They bring their own lunches. Parents provide food for the younger infants. All food is labeled and dated, stored in the infant refrigerator per regulation. All hazardous items are stored where they are inaccessible to children. The outdoor play area is fenced, has sufficient cushioning and adequate shade and is separate from other programs. The carbon monoxide detector is operational. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. There is at least one staff present with a current CPR and First Aid certification. Sign in/out sheets were reviewed. Infant Needs and Services Plans were on file for all infants. LPA reviewed a sample of personnel records for qualifications and a sample of children's records for emergency information. LPA discussed SB 792 (staff immunizations) and SIDS (Child Care Providers Guide to Safe Sleep Handout provided). This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records.
