|Licensing Program Analyst, Joelle Redding, met with Director for the purpose of an unannounced random annual inspection. There were 19 children present with three teachers as follows: Room 1 (Busy Bees) 3 children with one teacher; Room 2 (Butterflies): 9 children with one teacher and Room 3 (Blue Jays): 7 children with one teacher. Facility is within ratio and capacity. Program operates Monday thru Friday from 7:30 a.m. a.m. to 5:30 p.m..|
LPA toured the rooms. The furniture, toys, books, games and equipment, both inside and out, are safe, age-appropriate and in good repair. All rooms have adequate heating, lighting and ventilation, are clean and orderly, and free of hazards. All storage containers and trashes have tight fitting lids and are in good repair. There is a kitchen which is clean and sanitary with all cold food stored properly, per regulation and non refrigerated foods are stored in each classroom. Children bring their own lunches. Snack menus are posted. Hand washing and toileting areas are in a safe, sanitary and operating condition. Poisons, disinfectants, cleaning solutions and other items that are dangerous to children have been made inaccessible. There is no evidence of rodent or insect activity. Outdoor play area is fully fenced with sufficient cushioning and adequate shade. There is an operational drinking fountain available. No hazards were noted. The carbon monoxide detector is operational. LPA reviewed, sign in/out sheets, a sample of personnel records for a health screening and a sample of children's records for emergency information and a medical assessment. There is at least one staff present with current CPR and First Aid certification. Isolation area is the Director's office. SB 792 (staff immunization) requirements have been met. Mandated Reporter Training (AB 1207) was discussed. Training can be found at the following link: www.mandatedreporterca.com. Training is to be completed by 3/31/18 for all existing employees and within 90 days of hire for all new employees.
